Police Dispatch Quality Award Adds New Sponsor
The IQ Certification Program joins SSI and Honeywell as award sponsor

Frisco, TX (May 23,  2011) –  Reducing unnecessary alarm dispatches requires teamwork from everyone in the security industry—from manufacturers, to installers, to monitoring centers. To assist in awarding companies with these high standards, the Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC) and the False Alarm Reduction Association (FARA) are proud to welcome the Installation Quality (IQ) Certification Program as a new sponsor of the Police Dispatch Quality (PDQ) award.

“It’s a good partnership because the IQ program and their members subscribe to practices that parallel our effort to ensure alarm systems work properly, minimizing alarm dispatches,” said SIAC Executive Director Stan Martin. “IQ’s involvement with our PDQ award demonstrates that high quality installations go hand-in-hand with superior alarm management practices.”

The PDQ award is awarded annually to the security company that enacts a complete effort to reduce false alarms -- implementing Enhanced Call Verification (ECV), utilizing ANSI CP-01 compliant control panels, properly training installers and customers, and working closely with law enforcement.

Martin added that 90 percent of all false alarms are caused by user error, but through the implementation of best practices and model ordinances from law enforcement agencies across the country, the number of unnecessary dispatches is drastically lower.

“We are very proud to be associated with this prestigious award,” commented Tim Creenan, Chairman of the IQ Board of Directors.  ”A properly manufactured and installed security system, along with thorough user training, dramatically reduces false dispatches. Our goal is to recognize companies that demonstrate these simple principles not only with the IQ Certification, but also through worthy awards like the PDQ.”

IQ’s award sponsorship will be effective for the 2011 PDQ award that will be presented at ESX in June 2012.

About IQ Certification
IQ Certification is the leading installation quality certification program for security alarm systems. The goals of the voluntary IQ Program are to raise the overall installation quality of electronic security and life safety systems and reduce the burden and risks false alarms place on our local, national and international police forces. In addition, the IQ Certification Program hopes to strengthen the bond between the security alarm industry and the public safety community. It is also a badge of honor for those companies that have received their certification by adhering to a rigid set of standards and operating procedures that set them above other security alarm companies in the community.
