Real Time Intelligence for Industry Leaders
FRISCO, Texas (February 13, 2012) – Social media followers of the Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC) continued to grow over 2011. After the organization established new tools to communicate its activities near the end of 2010, SIAC has found that its Twitter followers now number over 110, and weekly readership of its blog averages between 40-50 individuals.
“While we have overcome many challenges our industry continues to face significant issues in many communities,” said Stan Martin, SIAC Executive Director. “Social media helps us keep industry leaders informed on key issues in real time so that we can engage law enforcement and elected officials early in the decision making process.”
“The growing number of followers on social media indicates that we are discussing key issues in the electronic security industry,” said Dave Simon, SIAC Communications Director. “We want to keep our leaders informed, and share tools and lessons learned from one community to another.
SIAC produces a weekly blog on www.siacinc.wordpress.com, Tweets at @SIACINC, and can be found on Facebook by accessing Stan Martin. SIAC suggests that colleagues interested in following alarm management issues access at least one of these links on a weekly basis.
“It’s a long-term growth process to get more people involved in improving alarm management practices across the country. The first step is sending relevant, consistent information, and we believe these tools are effectively serving that purpose,” Simon observed.
SIAC is comprised of four major North American security associations--Canadian Security Association (CANASA), Security Industry Association (SIA), Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA), and the Electronic Security Association (ESA)--representing one voice for the alarm industry on alarm management issues. SIAC’s primary charter is to significantly reduce calls for service while strengthening the lines of communication with law enforcement professionals and end users.
