We probably don’t say this enough, but alarm dealers serve as our eyes and ears on local ordinances and other related issues. SIAC can’t do its job without ongoing input, advice and interest from the alarm dealers who serve as the backbone of the electronic security industry

In particular, you keep us posted on new and revised alarm ordinance activities. This allows us to not only keep our State Activity Report updated and relevant on our web site, but also alerts us to communities where we need to be present and engaged.

Yes, we do formal internet and government document searches looking for ordinance proposals or changes. But, we miss things at times, or don’t find information as quickly as we’d like. That’s where you come in, keeping us up-to-date, which is critical for actions in many jurisdictions. For SIAC to comment and meet with local officials in a timely fashion, we need information at the right time. Amazingly, nearly half of our notifications come from dealers in the local community.

We urge dealers who read or hear about any ordinance activity to send whatever you have to us by email so we can followup: stan@siacinc.org.  Yes, it may be a duplicate of info we already have, but it ensures we do the very best job following changes, so please send them.

SIAC resources are limited, so this intelligence helps. We also want to remind you that SIAC’s scope is limited to the security side of proposals – we do not engage in fire-related issues. Thank you again for all that you do.
