If you know Stan Martin, you know he’s a humble man, wanting to stay behind the scenes and get the job done without accolades or having a lot of attention. Sometimes though it’s important to recognize what he’s done at SIAC, and typically recognition comes from an outside source like the Wisconsin Electronic Security Association (WIESA) two weeks ago.
At their annual awards ceremony, WIESA honored Stan with the “Bill Cooper Award,” which recognizes the recipients professionalism in working on issues of importance to the alarm industry. But we’ll let former WIESA President Mike Horgan (Co-Owner of H&S Protection along with Steve Garritson) tell you in his own words when he announced Stan as the recipient:
“The recipient of this year’s ‘Bill Cooper Award’ has been in the industry a long time – and he is an ‘alarm guy’ through and through; whether running his own company as he did for many years, serving as Executive Director for ESA, or more recently serving as Executive Director of SIAC. Along the way, tonight’s recipient has collected most, if not all of the industry’s highest awards – Triton, Stanley Lott, Morris Weinstock and Sara Jackson, to name a few.
“And it is also well worth noting that our recipient is an Air Force veteran who served two tours in Viet Nam, and received numerous awards, medals and commendations during his service to our country.
“True to the spirit of this award, he is a consummate professional and a gentleman. He works hard, knows how to build relationships, and represents our industry with the highest level of skill and class. And he knows how to have some fun along the way.
“This is EXACTLY the type of person we had in mind when we created the Bill Cooper award…an award by the way that Bill presented in person on more than one occasion. He surely would have been proud and honored to do it here tonight for his good friend.
“I would like to congratulate the recipient of this year’s “Bill Cooper Award: STAN MARTIN!”
