SIAC’s own Stan Martin has been reappointed to the National Sheriff’s Association (NSA) Outreach Committee, which includes crime prevention and alarm subgroups. Stan has served on this committee for eleven years. SIAC is proud to partner with NSA and serve on committees to help further progress on alarm management improvements, as well as develop new techniques for the security industry and law enforcement to work collaboratively on solutions.
Committee work takes time and patience for successful results. Because of the time it takes, it can be hard to see the accomplishments of these committees. But when we do, they’ve occurred because agreement has been reached that includes buy-in from multiple partners. That means the changes stand a much stronger chance of succeeding over time. They are defensible. For example, we have seen NSA resolutions supporting 2-call confirmation, CP-01 and the latest Priority Dispatch/Verification.
Appointments are made for one-year terms. NSA President Greg Champagne recently announced his 2016-2017 term appointments. Stan will be in attendance to serve on the committee at several key sessions. They include NSA’s Winter Legislative and Technology Conference, February 4-7, 2017 in Washington, D.C.; and NSA’s Annual Education and Technology Expo, June 23-28, 2017 in Reno, NV.
By representing the electronic security industry to the NSA, we keep communication channels open to leadership while continuing to reduce unnecessary alarm activations. We also increase our industry’s visibility, commitment and support with law enforcement officials, essential to meeting our core mission.
