We’ve just posted a press release to our Web site on how industry cooperation with police has led to a strengthened alarm ordinance in Sacramento, CA. You can find it at www.siacinc.org. It’s a good example of how committed industry leadership helps a local community with public safety improvements and resource allocation.

But beyond that, it speaks to what we believe is a growing trend of collaborative problem-solving between the police and industries like ours. We’re proud to be part of it.

In Sacramento, a letter was sent to the California Alarm Association (CAA) by police, thanking Ben Martinez, President of the Sacramento Area Alarm Association, Rich Whitlock, Northern CAA Vice President and Jon Sargent, Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC) liaison for Tyco Integrated Security and former CAA president. Both Sargent and Whitlock appeared before the city council in support of the ordinance.

SIAC and state associations that serve the electronic security industry have collective expertise and experience useful to communities when they approach new alarm ordinances and policies. We can help with best practices and share lessons learned from other communities.

We’re glad to be part of the solution, along with industry leaders throughout North America. We hope there will be many more Sacramento’s in the years ahead.
