Stan Martin Retires/Steve Keefer Named New SIAC Executive Director

Fort Worth, Texas (January 1, 2025) – The Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC) will undergo a leadership transition starting January 2025.  Founding Executive Director Stan Martin will assume emeritus status, and Steve Keefer, currently serving as Assistant Executive Director, will step into the role as the organization’s second executive director.

“Stan Martin has provided insightful leadership with the highest levels of integrity in his role at SIAC,” said Chairman Tim Creenan. “Stan is highly respected within our industry as well as in law enforcement, where he has worked closely with the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the National Sheriffs’ Association to promote effective alarm management policies nationwide.

“Thanks to Stan’s tireless work, prestigious public safety organizations have endorsed the model ordinance and opposed verified response as the best way to regulate the industry on the local level.

“The fact that more than 1,000 public safety agencies have implemented a version of the model alarm ordinance and only a handful have implemented verified response is a tribute to Stan’s leadership and integrity.”

The Electronic Security Association (ESA) recently recognized his decades of service and leadership by establishing the Stan Martin Excellence in Advocacy Award. In 1989, he received the Sara E. Jackson Memorial Award, presented annually by ESA to a committee chairperson who displays outstanding leadership. In 1990, he was recognized as the Morris F. Weinstock Person of the Year, the association’s most prestigious honor.

Since 1994, he has led a national effort to reduce unnecessary alarm dispatches, first by leading programs like Model Cities and Model States to develop best practices for law enforcement, and then for the last 22 years as the Executive Director of the Security Industry Alarm Coalition.

Martin has been named a Security Sales & Integration (SSI) Hall of Fame Ring of Honor Inductee. SSI’s list recognizes the industry’s most influential figures. According to SSI, Martin was a clear choice for the honor as he “has continued to be one of the industry’s most highly respected liaisons between the alarm industry and law enforcement in the partnership of managing false alarms and ensuring ongoing timely response to alarm incidents.”

Martin was also recently named a lifetime member of the California Alarm Association in honor of his long service to the industry.

“I have been blessed to serve with so many of the great leaders in our industry and law enforcement,” said Martin. “I am proud of what we have accomplished together and look forward to watching SIAC’s continued success under Steve’s leadership.

Martin says he will continue to assist SIAC as needed but hopes to spend more time with his wife Marti, his daughter and son-in-law, and a new grandchild.
