Veteran public safety leader brings decades of experience and a commitment to industry partnership
FORT WORTH, Texas (September 10, 2026) –The Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC) has named Chief Tim Mattos its Western Law Enforcement Liaison, adding a veteran public safety leader with more than three decades of experience to the organization’s national outreach team.
In his new role, Mattos will work with law enforcement leaders, public safety organizations and members of the electronic security industry throughout the western United States. His work will support practical, proven approaches to alarm management that reduce unnecessary dispatches while maintaining police response and protecting the public.
“Chief Mattos understands that the strongest public safety solutions are built through communication, trust and teamwork,” said Grady Medcalf, Chairman of SIAC. “His decades of leadership experience and his ability to bring people together will help SIAC strengthen the partnership between law enforcement and the electronic security industry.”
Mattos began his law enforcement career with the City of Woodland, California, in 1990. He later served as an investigator with the Marin County District Attorney’s Office, police commander and police chief for the City of Suisun City, and director of public safety for the City of Rohnert Park. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice management.
“Tim brings the credibility of an accomplished law enforcement executive and a clear understanding of the value the security industry can provide as a public safety partner,” said Steve Keefer, SIAC executive director. “He knows the operational demands agencies face and will be an important resource as we work with communities to reduce unnecessary alarm dispatches through education, effective ordinances and new technology.”
SIAC’s law enforcement liaisons work directly with agencies and industry leaders to share alarm-management best practices, provide technical assistance and encourage cooperation before local issues become crises. SIAC provides its services to law enforcement agencies at no charge.
